Learn to Knit with Kristy Hendricks — Beginner Class

August 7, 2025, at 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Many of you asked for daytime classes! When I say God puts people in your life at the perfect time, meeting Kristy is one of those God moments. Kristy commented on a post in a group site, and I asked her if she wanted to teach. (I didn't even remember what she taught, but I remembered I had seen her somewhere online and knew she was a teacher.)

We met at the center and ended up talking for over an hour about our lives and how we ended up doing what we do.

You'll learn the foundations: how to tie a slipknot, cast on, work the knit stitch, and bind off. We'll also cover yarn anatomy, choosing tools, and what to try next. This is more than just a class — it’s an invitation into a time-honored tradition that has kept hands busy, minds calm, and hearts connected for generations.

Kristy’s been knitting since 2004 and brings over two decades of experience in fiber arts to the table — including teaching, technical editing, and professional finishing. You can find her handmade work at local shops in the upstate and in-person at pop-up markets throughout the year. She’s a Navy veteran with C-PTSD who calls knitting her therapy and testimony — every stitch is a quiet prayer of gratitude, and she delights in passing that joy to her students.

Kristy will put you at ease with calm, soothing instruction.
